As Eleven Eleven Mississippi grew in popularity, they received numerous requests to host large parties and special events. Due to the high demand at Eleven Eleven Mississippi, Wendy and Paul were turning away hundreds of requests a year for private parties, corporate events, rehearsal dinners and social engagements.

They knew with the right opportunity, they could fill this niche and continue to deliver the high quality that Eleven Eleven Mississippi guests came to expect from their food and service.

For over a year and a half, the Hamiltons looked at possible venues throughout the city of St. Louis. As it turns out, their future plans included the building owned by a long time patron located right down the street on Chouteau Avenue.

It took a great deal of vision and faith to realize that the building at 2017 Chouteau could be anything more than a neglected one hundred and thirty year old mill, but as many have pointed out; if it is wasnít a reclamation project, the Hamiltons wouldn't be interested.

The Hamilton's vision included bringing the fond memories of their recent trip to the Provence region of France and the warm and inviting culture of southern France to St. Louis. They would use this theme throughout the development of 2017 Chouteau.

The name Moulin, French for "mill," is derived from the building's history as a mill for the Schnaider brewery on the south side of Chouteau Avenue.

Moulin hosted its first event on April 29th, 2006, a wedding for 300+ guests. As the name indicates, Moulin Events and Meetings hosts weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate, society and non-profit events. The interiors evoke the rich tradition of the buildings of that period with high ceilings and beams, arched windows, exposed brick and unbelievable views of the Arch and downtown St. Louis.

The Lafayette and Chouteau rooms can accommodate from 30-200 and the Centennial Ballroom can host 200-500 guests.

Moulin has its own banquet kitchen, features ample onsite and street parking and an elevator to the banquet space. Executive Chef, Ivy Magruder, who opened Eleven Eleven Mississippi oversees the operations of Moulin and describes the menu as simple, clean, fresh and approachable that includes a blend of some of the signature dishes from Eleven Eleven Mississippi and Vin de Set.
